Giving Back

Some of the events BJ’s participates in to give back to the community that has so graciously supported us are:

Special Olympics. Every year we close both campuses and go out to Fort Lewis to do the athletes hair  - getting them prepared for their big victory dance.  Hundreds of athletes show up to get their hair cut, styled, make-up applied and nails polished.  The students learn that giving back is important for success.

The Rainbow festival is another event we participate in.

The Puyallup Fair where we set up a booth and cut hair from open to close, 17 days straight to service the fair goers and the employees of the fair. We have a free tuition drawing for one lucky person for our  cosmetology program.

Sister Cities International – We are involved with the Tacoma/George, South Africa sister cities organization.  We have raised thousands of dollars to help children with AIDS and we help support their battered women’s shelter.

BJ’s Beauty & Barber College, in historic South Tacoma, offers complimentary haircuts to the unemployed every Wednesday afternoon.
