Admission Requirements
Cosmetology, Barbering, Teacher Trainee Programs
- Complete an entrance interview and attend orientation with a college staff member.
- All students must have either a high school diploma or GED for the Cosmetology and Barbering Program.
- A Cosmetology, Barbering, Esthetics or Manicuring license is required for the Teacher Trainee program.

Student Housing
BJ’s Beauty & Barber Colleges do not offer any student housing assistance. There are many apartment units available within commuting distance of both colleges.

- Open to the public for client services. All services are performed by students under the supervision of licensed instructors.
Orientation and Basic Training
The Tacoma location services these two sessions due to the space available.
- Cosmetology basic training is approximately 7 weeks;
- Barbering basic training is approximately 3 weeks;
- Esthetic(Puyallup location only) basic training is approximately 3 weeks;
- Teacher Training (Tacoma location only) is approximately 4 weeks.
